In the cutthroat world of Hollywood if you are not in the spotlight you are left cold in the dark. Often times celebrities, especially females, try to keep up with this dog eat dog world by deciding on elective surgery. Actors are gauged on their looks, and how those looks respond with an audience, so in a business such as Hollywood many women believe surgery is essential to stay one step ahead of the game. Here are a few cosmetic surgeries that are common among female celebrities.
The “nose job” is one of the most common procedures cosmetic surgeons perform. Your face is the first thing people notice about you, and many can become self-conscious about how their face is balanced. The nose is often the root of balance issues, even for the rich and famous. From Lisa Kudrow to Dirty Dancing’s Jennifer Grey, many female celebrities have underwent and sung the praises of rhinoplasty.
Another common cosmetic surgery among female celebrities is the breast augmentation. Kris Jenner went under the knife before the seventh season of “Keeping up with the Kardashians.” Renowned actresses such as Sarah Jessica Parker and Nicole Kidman have also undergone the procedure. Breast augmentation has resulted in both positive and negative results. Denise Richards originally had surgery to enlarge her breasts at the age of nineteen then later underwent two procedures to reverse the augmentation. Often times with female celebrities, breast augmentation is done at a relatively young age when first trying to make a name for themselves.
THE EFFECTS OF AGING
For female celebrities the aging process is tough. As they grow older they are not offered as many roles and can turn to plastic surgery to give them the look of their younger selves. Celebrities from Dolly Parton to Cher to even Betty White have had eyebrows tightened, fillers or facelifts and even skin lightening procedures to reverse the effects of aging. Common facial procedures also include collagen implants for fuller lips and liposuction to remove fat cells from under the chin.
In a profession where you are constantly judged by your looks, it is easy to understand why female celebrities would choose plastic surgery. Sometimes, like in the case of Jennifer Aniston’s deviated septum or Angelina Jolie’s post-mastectomy breast augmentation, surgery is needed to repair natural damage to the body. Many celebrities consider their cosmetic procedures a great success while others do regret their decision.
