Laser hair removal technology was pioneered more than 20 years ago and has grown by leaps and bounds since. Laser Hair removal treatments are quick, simple and safe and result in super smooth and silky skin.

If you are looking to remove your body hair permanently, then laser hair removal might be the answer because it efficiently removes all that unwanted hair.

What is laser hair removal treatment?

Laser removal is an amazingly simple process using targeted lasers to remove the unwanted hair follicles in question by utilizing a specially tuned pulse which makes the follicles “fall out” in a clean and natural fashion.

The beauty of this technique is that it destroys the hair follicles with pulses of laser light without any extraneous hassle, effort, or collateral “damage.”  Hair follicles contain dark skin pigments that cause hair growth and the laser beams seek and destroy that dark pigmentation, effectively removing the unwanted hair effectively.

There are several methods of laser hair removal.

  1. The diode laser method is the best method of laser hair removal for those with light skin and dark hair because it targets the skin pigmentation at the base of the hair follicles.
  2. Another method, the Nd:YAG laser is generally ineffective for light-coloured (blonde/grey) hair, but effective for treating dark (brown/black) hair.
  3. The third method, Intense pulsed light, or IPL, is a technology used by cosmetic practitioners to perform various skin treatments including hair removal. IPL can drastically reduce hair growth, most effectively in lighter skin tones and thin hair follicles.

If you have ever trimmed a mustache or goatee with a traditional razor, then you know all too well the danger of accidentally shaving off a bit too much – and that’s excluding the pain that can come if you cut yourself. With this new and innovative technique, you can remove the excess hair on your body without any of the risks involved with a traditional razor because of the pinpoint accuracy which a laser provides.

Waxing can be a relatively quick way to produce silky smooth skin. But it is also pretty painful and difficult to tackle on your own especially in the sensitive and hard-to-reach areas. On top of that, hair will grow back quickly after you have waxed. Laser hair removal not only results in smoother skin (with a lot less pain and recovery), but also lasts a lot longer.

Many people who want to keep a clean appearance are in the practice of shaving, waxing or plucking of hair as a routine and it can be a painful and tiring day in and day out process.

If you..

  1. Are absolutely sick and tired of having to shave all the time particularly in the sensitive areas of your skin
  2. Never want to have to worry about ingrown hairs ever again
  3. Just want super silky, smooth, and hairless skin permanently

then the advanced laser hair removal offered at Tamira Medical Spa is right up your alley!

How many laser hair removal treatments does it take to permanently remove hair?

As a rule, we recommend that you undergo anywhere between five and six treatments to see nearly permanent laser hair removal results.

Most people will see a dramatic reduction after just three or four treatments, but if you go up to six treatments you will almost never again have to worry about dealing with hair in those targeted areas ever.

Besides this, the occasional annual “touchup” procedure (if needed) should only take a couple of minutes to complete.

How permanent is laser hair removal?

Laser hair removal is a permanent hair reduction process and not necessarily a permanent removal treatment.

You will be able to destroy hair follicles at their very root, but the body is pretty resilient and will look to regenerate younger, weaker hair follicles to take their place. This hair will naturally be thinner, weaker, and easier to deal with. But it is not all that uncommon for people that have undergone laser hair removal in the past to come in for annual “maintenance” procedures.

Hormonal changes that can be caused by a variety of different lifestyle and genetic triggers can in turn cause new hair follicles to grow back faster (or slower) than they would have otherwise.

If you undergo these kinds of changes or notice new follicles flooding back, then you may need to come in for a “touchup” procedure for sure.

Advantages of Laser Hair Removal

Laser hair removal has many advantages that attract people to use it as a form of practical hair removal. It is used to remove hair from the face, under arms, legs, and bikini line, removing the necessity of shaving or waxing.

Removal by the laser hair removal system takes a short amount of time, with smaller areas, like the upper lip taking only a matter of minutes.

Larger areas can take up to an hour, but the adequate removal of hair can be well worth your time, saving you from the pain of spending time shaving, plucking and waxing. The process takes only about 5 to 6 sessions for the majority of people who choose to use this method of hair removal.

Your skin can be red for about a day, and you will have to avoid direct sunlight for significant lengths of time because it darkens the skin pigments, which will allow regrowth of hair. Some people experience swelling in the area where the laser beam was directed, as well as the formation of scabs and bruising. Some others can experience temporary change in the skin pigmentation around the target area.

The process can also take a greater number of sessions (up to 10) for people with hormonal imbalance.

There is also some risk you must deal with as well. You can wind up with laser burns if you use an inexperienced technician. You can minimize the risk by using a professional that is using good equipment and that has some experience in the art of full body hair removing.

Why opt for Laser Hair Removal?

Who wants to have to keep shaving? How about continuously waxing? Tweezing anyone? While shaving is the most temporary way to do away with hair, it hurts to wax and tweeze unwanted hair and it is a never-ending cycle.

You deal with the unwanted hair and before you know it you have to deal with it again. Of course, you can always use stinky chemicals to remove the hair, but you are always at risk of chemical burns, especially on the tender upper lip. Chemical hair removal too is not a very good idea. In many cases when you use the chemical options on large areas like your legs it is very easy to miss hair and then you have to wait 24 hours before you can make the attempt again! It can feel like you are fighting a losing battle because you are.

Unless you do something about your unwanted hair you will spend a good chunk of your time trying to keep the non-stop growth under control. There is a better way! You can go hairless by taking some simple steps.

There are many considerable options for removal of hair along with laser hair removal. There is one down fall. It is not something that can be done in one visit. You have to commit to going for a series of treatments. It can be time consuming, and it can seem expensive at first. Once you realize that the money that you spend to remove unwanted hair is finite than it makes it seem a lot cheaper.

You never have to shave/wax/tweeze again. Once you make it through all the sessions you will never have to deal with unwanted hair again. You will look better and feel better.

Unwanted hair can make you uncomfortable and less confident than you deserve to be about your appearance. Once you get rid of the hair that you want to cover up and hide, you will feel more confident and be able to face the world feeling good about yourself.

Furthermore, razor and all, can lead to cuts, scrapes, and that is just the beginning. Using a razor on those areas naturally risks deeper cuts, and any form of cut can likewise allow bacteria in which, in turn, can cause an infection. It’s simply too much of a hassle and far too much pain.

Simpler Solution:
Given the risks posed by a traditional razor, a smoother, safer approach is warranted, and that’s exactly what a laser hair removal procedure entails.

It is a good idea for you to shave the targeted areas you’re looking to have treated with laser hair removal about 24 hours before you come for your scheduled session. At Tamira, we recommend that you stop waxing or plucking unwanted hair between four and five weeks before your treatment. By shaving off all of the existing hair in the targeted area you eliminate a lot of the discomfort you might otherwise feel during the procedure.

Results and what to expect

Laser hair removal solutions have been an absolute godsend for people that are looking to do away with unsightly and uncomfortable hair all over their bodies.

Unfortunately, not everyone has fantastic results the first couple of times they move through this laser hair removal process – and some people aren’t able to enjoy consistent or study results even after multiple laser hair removal treatments.

There are a variety of different reasons as to why you may be getting poor results with laser hair removal solutions, and we are going to touch upon a handful of them right now.

Poor genetic response to laser hair removal
At the end of the day, hair is essentially nothing more than synthesized protein, which is why laser works so well to remove it in the first place.

But because you aren’t ever going to be able to stop your hair from regenerating (the only way to do that is to stop your body from manifesting the protein necessary to create that here in the first place), your results may not be as impressive as you’d hoped with laser.

Yes, laser kills the roots – but those roots may reappear later down the line if you have a poor genetic response to the procedure. If you are naturally very, very hairy (we’re talking about VERY hairy) you may have to move forward with multiple procedures for the rest of your life.

Unskilled application of the laser hair removal technology
At the same time, the reasons for poor results may have absolutely nothing whatsoever to do with you, your body, or your biochemistry. And perhaps everything to do with the poor or unskilled application of the laser hair removal technology itself. If you’re working with a new facility, new technicians, or those that are using new technology they aren’t completely familiar with, the odds are pretty good that you might not get the same kind of high quality results you were expecting. This is another of the most common reasons for poor results with laser hair removal. And certainly one that you are going to have more control over them the genetic response your body manifests all on its own.

A litany of other factors
Of course there are a litany of other factors that might come into play when you’re getting poor results from your laser hair removal solution. Your diet, your stress levels, any and all underlying medical conditions, your sensitivity to the laser intervention itself, etc. All these can determine and dictate whether or not you’re happy with the results of this laser procedure.
