Moles are a common type of skin growth that often appear brown or black. They are made up of a cluster of pigmented cells (melanocytes) and usually appear around childhood or adolescence. Some moles are harmless and can enhance features, whereas, others can be malignant or unflattering.
At Tamira, we offer a range of services which can be chosen depending on your concern.

Radiofrequency removal

This technique of mole removal involves radiofrequency technology. The waves emitted are effective in removing protruding moles and de-pigmenting flat moles on the skin.
This procedure may cause redness, tenderness and irritation. Avoiding sun exposure is advisable and using sun protection of 30+ SPF is recommended. No makeup is to be worn prior-treatment or post-treatment. There is no downtime but, the treated area would require 10 to 14 days to heal.

Laser removal

This variety of mole removal consists of laser technology to safely remove moles. The rays emitted can remove protruding moles and de-pigment flat moles. However, laser mole removal can cause post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation in darker skin tones and should be used with caution. This method of mole removal cannot be used in the periorbital (eye) region as it can cause damage to vision.

Surgical removal

Surgical removal is the most precise method of mole removal. There are two techniques which are used, namely;
Surgical punch excision – this method involves ‘punching’ the skin to remove a protruding or flat mole. It is also widely used for a skin biopsy when malignancy is suspected.
Surgical shave – this technique includes the surgeon scraping the top layers of the skin encompassing the mole. A surgical shave is effective in de-pigmenting a mole and can be used only on flat moles. At times, this technique is also used for skin biopsies.
This procedure may cause redness, scarring, tenderness and irritation. Avoiding sun exposure is advisable and using sun protection of 30+ SPF is recommended. No makeup is to be worn prior-treatment or post-treatment. There is no downtime involved.
