Scrotal laxity

Scrotal laxity means that the scrotum is not as tight-fitting with the inner thigh as it used to be.  This may cause a man to be unhappy with his “ball placement” or concerned about his future fertility.  Many men do not know exactly why their skin appears more stretched out than before.

Scrotal laxity can have a number of consequences. It can cause pain or discomfort, and it can also lead to fertility problems. In some cases, scrotal laxity or sagging scrotum can be corrected with surgery.

Symptoms of scrotal laxity

Men with scrotal laxity can experience a number of symptoms, including

  • A feeling of heaviness in the scrotum
  • A dragging sensation in the scrotum
  • Pain or discomfort in the scrotum, especially during physical activity
  • Swelling of the scrotum
  • Redness or inflammation of the skin of the scrotum
  • Tenderness or soreness in the scrotum
  • Reduction in the size of the testicles

Causes of scrotal laxity

Scrotal laxity is a condition that results in the testes and scrotum becoming loose and less firm. This can be caused by a variety of factors, including age, injury, or medical conditions.

Age: As a man ages, the testicles gradually descend into the scrotum. This process is known as the descent of the testicles. The descent begins soon after birth and is usually complete by the time a boy reaches puberty. However, in some men, the testicles do not fully descend. This can lead to scrotal laxity.

Injury: Injury to the testicles or scrotum can cause scrotal laxity. This includes both direct and indirect injuries. Direct injuries can occur from a blow to the area or from surgery. Indirect injuries can occur when the testicles are stretched or torn.

Medical conditions: There are a number of medical conditions that can cause scrotal laxity. These include hydroceles, hernias, and tumors.

What are the treatment options for scrotal laxity?

There are a few surgical options available to correct scrotal laxity. The type of scrotal rejuvenation surgery recommended will depend on the severity of the condition.
