PRP, or platelet-rich plasma, is a treatment that uses the patient's blood to help heal injuries or wounds or treat pattern abldness. The PRP is concentrated and enriched with platelets, which are cells that help clot the blood and repair damage. This treatment has been used for many years to help promote healing in various medical fields. The PRP hair treatment is a relatively new application of this therapy and is used to help promote hair growth. PRP treatment can be done for men and women. PRP is also said to be effective for stimulating hair growth post hair transplantation.

A small amount of blood is drawn from the patient and placed in a centrifuge, which spins the blood at high speeds. This process separates the platelets from the other cells in the blood. The platelets are then injected into the scalp where they promote hair growth. The duration of the treatment is about an hour. There is no downtime required after the treatment and most patients report minimal side effects if any. The appointments can be for approximately six weeks or more. Maintenance treatments are recommended after six months of PRP treatment or the patient has to follow the initial treatments. The PRP treatment is considered an effective and safe method for restoring hair loss.
