During the procedure:

  • The skin around the growth will be cleaned.
  • A local anesthetic will be injected into the area to numb it.
  • The surgeon will cut the growth and remove it along with a margin of healthy tissue.
  • The margins are usually 0.5 to 1 cm of healthy tissue around the growth.

The edges of the wound would be sutured and a bandage will be applied
