Surgical Excision of Breast Lump Treatment

If you are considering surgical excision as a treatment option for a lump in your breast, it is important to understand the procedure and what to expect. This guide will provide you with information on what surgical excision is, how it is performed, and what the recovery process may be like.

Surgical excision is a treatment option for many different types of lumps on skin. The procedure involves removing the affected area of skin with a scalpel or laser. Surgical excision can be used to treat conditions such as skin cancer, moles, warts, and other growths. It is recommended for larger growths that cannot be treated with other methods such as topical treatments or cryotherapy.

Surgical excision is usually performed by a dermatologist or plastic surgeon as a day care Surgery.

During the procedure:

  • The skin around the growth will be cleaned.
  • A local anesthetic will be injected into the area to numb it.
  • The surgeon will cut the growth and remove it along with a margin of healthy tissue.
  • The margins are usually 0.5 to 1 cm of healthy tissue around the growth.

The edges of the wound would be sutured and a bandage will be applied
