General facts around weight loss journey

(i) The weight loss process is quite longer than you think

Some people put on weight quicker than others, while some people lose weight quicker than others. It all depends on the metabolism rate (explained in brief in the last section of this blog) pertaining to your body in particular.  Thus, do not calculate your timeframe by just observing how others are responding to their weight loss diet or workout plans.

(ii) Generic diet plans may not work for you

Yes, because it is not necessary that your body act and react the same way as your partner's or peer’s. So, try to customize your diet chart or diet plan for weight loss by consulting a nutritionist, medical professional, or physician. And they are the right people to understand your likes, dislikes, or allergies toward various food items.

(iii) Not all need to workout heavily

First, you must realize that only working out will not help with weight reduction. In addition, you need to perfectly balance your diet. Second, based on your body’s metabolism, fitness levels, previous workout experience, etc., you have to create your personal workout plan with the help of your gym trainer or fitness expert.

(iv) Add some fun to your weight loss plan

Stringently following or adhering to your plan will bore you within a few days or weeks of starting the journey. So, try to add fun by inviting your friends, partners, siblings, colleagues, or anyone else who is willing to join you in your weight-cutting journey. So that you feel boosted and motivated throughout the process. Ultimately, boost weight loss by and large

Short- and long-term weight loss facts decoded by Dr. Jayanthy Ravindran, MBBS, M.S, FRCS, DNB

The doctor clarifies in her video that if you’re an aspiring weight loss candidate, then the first thing you need to ensure is a calorie-deficit diet. It depends on the basal metabolic rate of your body (whether it is normal or low, as per your genetic structure or lifestyle). So, without fail, ask your physician to prescribe a blood test that detects your body’s basal metabolic rate.

If you’re looking for long-term weight loss, then you can opt for a non-surgical and regular fitness program. On the contrary, if you’re looking for a short-term journey, you have a handful of options. Nevertheless, among these types of weight loss surgery, body contouring is a great and affordable fat loss technique.

Myth #1: Liposuction is a weight loss procedure. And I can lose 30–40 kg easily with this procedure.

Doctor’s clarification: It is a body contouring procedure that extracts unnecessary visceral fat accumulated in your body (focused areas like arms, buttocks, saddle bags, etc.) This procedure is eligible for only those who want to marginally lose weight and not lose 30–40 kg (who are severely obese).

Myth #2: Cosmetic fat loss procedures are scarless.

Doctor’s clarification: Fat loss cosmetic procedures like liposuction will involve small scars, but they won’t be clearly visible as the trained aestheticians make the incisions at contour-targeted or undergarment regions of your body. In addition, some people may have excess skin after fat loss, and in this case, the skin has to be cut, removed, and stitched. This will also lead to small scars. However, these scars are not readily apparent and will not affect your appearance or aesthetics.
